Day 2 – In The Morning We Visited 2 Temples in Chachoengsao : Thailand (Apr’23)

Day 2 – The next morning, 2nd day we visited temples in Chachoengsao. Wat Sothonwararam Worawihan is within the city and Phrong Akat is outside the city around 30 minutes drive by motorbike

On my trip to Chachoengsao, I explored two famous temples – Wat Sothonwararam & Wat Phrong Akat. Both temples offered a mix of spirituality, culture, and beautiful Thai architecture, making my visit truly memorable

Wat Sothonwararam Worawihan

Our first stop was Wat Sothonwararam Worawihan, a temple with a rich history dating back to the late Ayutthaya period. Originally named Wat Hong, it is renowned for housing the revered Phra Phutthasothon Buddha image, a significant spiritual symbol for the local community.

Wat Sothonwararam is a temple in Chachoengsao Province, Thailand. Located in the Municipality of Mueang Chachoengsao alongside the Bang Pakong River, it was initially named ‘Wat Hong, ’ and was built in the late Ayutthaya period.

The temple’s architecture is a harmonious blend of Thai and Western styles, featuring a grand chapel with a soaring spire and intricate stained glass windows. The serene ambiance, coupled with the gentle flow of the nearby Bang Pakong River, creates a tranquil environment for reflection and meditation.

Wat Phrong Akat

It is a serene and shady temple. There is an Ubosot Maha Chedi in the combined characteristics of Thai, Indian, and Sri Lankan arts.

After visiting Wat Sothonwararam, we proceeded to Wat Phrong Akat, located approximately 30 minutes outside the city. This serene temple is distinguished by its Ubosot Maha Chedi, which combines Thai, Indian, and Sri Lankan architectural elements.

The temple’s peaceful surroundings, shaded by lush trees, offer a perfect setting for contemplation. The intricate designs and carvings on the chedi reflect the rich cultural heritage of the region, making it a must-visit for those interested in architectural beauty and spiritual tranquility.
