Day 2 – Zurich City Walk, Uetliberg Viewpoint & Lake Zurich : Switzerland (Sep’26)

Our Day 2 in Switzerland started with a beautiful sunny morning at our Airbnb in Meilen, followed by a relaxing day exploring Zurich City & Uetliberg, a short trek to the Uetliberg viewpoint, and a peaceful evening beside Lake Zurich. It was one of those travel days when we didn’t have to rush from one attraction to another. We simply enjoyed the city, the views and the beautiful weather.

A Beautiful Morning at Our Airbnb in Meilen

We started Day 2 with a beautiful sunny morning at our Airbnb in Meilen, near Zurich.

This was the first morning when we really spent some time enjoying the surroundings of our Airbnb. The property felt quite luxurious, especially because of its wonderful location right in front of the lake.

Before heading anywhere, we took some nice photos around our Airbnb and enjoyed the peaceful morning atmosphere.

After travelling and exploring Switzerland over the previous days, having breakfast at our own place while enjoying such beautiful surroundings was a very relaxing way to start another day.

We had breakfast at our place and took our time getting ready.

After breakfast and a shower, we decided to head towards Zurich City and spend the daytime exploring it on foot.

Exploring Zurich City During the Day

Once we reached Zurich, we had lunch in the city.

After lunch, we started walking around Zurich without trying to follow a very strict sightseeing schedule.

I always enjoy this kind of travel.

Sometimes walking around a city gives you a much better feeling for the destination than simply moving from one famous attraction to another.

We walked through different parts of Zurich, enjoyed the city atmosphere and spent some time simply observing everyday life around us.

The beautiful sunny weather made the walk even more enjoyable.

Afternoon Trip to Uetliberg

In the afternoon, we decided to visit Uetliberg, one of the well-known viewpoints overlooking Zurich.

We travelled there using the train and tram.

After reaching the area, we had a short trek of approximately 15 minutes to reach the viewpoint.

The walk wasn’t very long, but it added a little outdoor activity to what had otherwise been a relaxed city day.

Once we reached the viewpoint, we spent around one hour there.

We had a beer, relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful views.

After walking around Zurich earlier in the day, sitting at the viewpoint and looking across the surrounding landscape was a very nice change of atmosphere.

There was no need to rush.

We simply enjoyed being there.

Returning to Zurich City

After spending around an hour at Uetliberg, we took the next train back towards Zurich City.

Once we returned, we continued roaming around the city.

By this point, the day had already given us a nice combination of experiences — a peaceful morning in Meilen, a Zurich city walk and a short trek with beautiful views from Uetliberg.

But we still had one more relaxing part of the day ahead.

Spending the Evening Beside Lake Zurich

Later in the evening, we made our way towards the lakeside.

We spent some time beside Lake Zurich, walking around, relaxing and taking more photos.

I really enjoyed this part of the day.

After spending the afternoon at Uetliberg and then returning to the city, sitting and walking beside the lake was a peaceful way to finish our sightseeing.

There was nothing complicated about the evening.

We just enjoyed the surroundings, took some shots and spent time by the water.

Dinner and Back to Meilen

After enjoying our evening around Lake Zurich, we had dinner.

At around 8 PM, we started making our way back to our Airbnb in Meilen.

It had been another good day in Switzerland.

There wasn’t one big attraction dominating the entire day. Instead, it was a combination of simple experiences that made it memorable — waking up beside the lake, having breakfast at our Airbnb, walking around Zurich, taking a short trek to Uetliberg, enjoying a beer with a view and finishing the evening beside Lake Zurich.

My Thoughts About Day 2 in Zurich

Day 2 was a good balance between city exploration and nature.

We didn’t try to pack too many things into the day.

We walked around Zurich, enjoyed the sunny weather, took public transport to Uetliberg, completed a short trek and spent some peaceful time enjoying the view.

Later, Lake Zurich gave us a completely different atmosphere for the evening.

For me, this is also what travelling is about.

Not every day needs to have a long checklist of famous attractions.

Sometimes a city walk, a short trek, a beautiful viewpoint and a quiet evening beside a lake are enough to make a travel day memorable.

And that was exactly what Day 2 in Switzerland was for us.
