Day 7 – A Relaxing Sunday in Iseltwald and Lake Brienz : Switzerland (Sep’26)
A Relaxing Sunday in in Iseltwald and Lake Brienz, Switzerland
After several days of exploring Switzerland, today was going to be a little different. We had no intention of rushing between attractions or following a busy sightseeing schedule. We simply wanted to enjoy the beautiful Swiss countryside at our own pace.
As usual, we started our day from our Airbnb around lunchtime. We had developed a comfortable routine during this trip, enjoying slow mornings before heading out to explore somewhere new.
Our first destination was Iseltwald, a small village located beside Lake Brienz. To be honest, we had no idea what to expect from this place. We had simply decided to visit, enjoy lunch, and see what the village had to offer.
Looking back, sometimes the places we visit without expectations turn out to be the most memorable.

Reaching Iseltwald by Train and Bus
We started our journey by train and then continued by bus to Iseltwald. The entire journey took approximately 40 minutes.
Traveling around Switzerland using public transportation had become a comfortable part of our daily routine. The train and bus connections made it convenient to explore smaller villages without needing a car.
When we finally reached Iseltwald, we headed directly toward a restaurant because it was already lunchtime.
But even before sitting down for lunch, I started noticing how beautiful the surroundings were.
The peaceful lake, mountains, traditional houses, and relaxed atmosphere immediately caught my attention.
I had arrived without knowing much about Iseltwald, but within a few minutes, I was already falling in love with the place.

A Wonderful Swiss Lunch Beside Lake Brienz
Our first stop was a restaurant located opposite Lake Lodge, right beside the lake.
The restaurant appears to be Restaurant Seegarten, although I would need to confirm that from our photographs.
What made the restaurant special was its location. Sitting beside Lake Brienz, surrounded by beautiful scenery, created a wonderful atmosphere for lunch.
The food was very good, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
But for me, the real highlight was the combination of good food and the beautiful surroundings.
Sometimes, a restaurant becomes memorable not only because of what you eat but also because of how you feel while sitting there.
That was exactly my experience in Iseltwald.
I loved the lake view, the peaceful environment, and the overall vibe of the village.
It was one of those places where you naturally want to spend more time without worrying about your next destination.

Taking a Scenic Boat Ride Across Lake Brienz
After spending some time exploring Iseltwald, we returned to the pier.
Our afternoon plan was to take a boat across Lake Brienz and visit the village of Brienz.
Instead of traveling by road, we wanted to experience the lake itself.
We boarded the passenger boat, which could also be called a ferry, and began our journey across Lake Brienz.
The boat ride offered a different perspective of the surrounding landscape.
From the water, we could enjoy views of the mountains, lakeside villages, and beautiful natural scenery.
Lake Brienz is known for its distinctive turquoise water, and traveling across the lake was a wonderful experience.
I always enjoy journeys where the transportation itself becomes part of the sightseeing.
This boat ride was exactly that.
Rather than simply moving from one village to another, we were able to appreciate the beauty of the lake along the way.
Eventually, our boat arrived at Brienz pier, where we continued our afternoon exploration.

Exploring Brienz Village for Two Hours
After arriving at Brienz pier, we started walking around the village.
We spent approximately two hours exploring Brienz and the surrounding lakeside areas.
Brienz had a different atmosphere from Iseltwald, but it was equally pleasant.
The village is surrounded by beautiful mountains and sits directly beside Lake Brienz, making it another attractive place for a relaxing walk.
We explored the streets, walked beside the lake, and stopped at different locations to take photographs.
Since it was Sunday, most shops and restaurants were closed.
The village felt especially quiet, with limited commercial activity.
However, that did not really affect our plans.
We were not visiting Brienz for shopping or restaurants. We simply wanted to explore the village, enjoy the scenery, and experience another beautiful part of Switzerland.
Sometimes, quiet places are more enjoyable because you can appreciate the surroundings without distractions.
Our two hours in Brienz passed comfortably, and we were satisfied with our afternoon visit.

Returning Early to Our Airbnb Village, Wilderswil
Unlike some of our previous sightseeing days, we decided to return relatively early.
By around 7 PM, we were back in the village where our Airbnb was located.
We still had some time and energy, so instead of going directly inside, we decided to walk around our own village.
During a holiday, we often spend so much time exploring famous destinations that we forget to appreciate the surroundings of our accommodation.
That evening, we enjoyed walking around the village and taking a few more photographs.
It was a simple activity, but it felt like a perfect ending to the day.
We had already enjoyed two beautiful lakeside villages, a wonderful lunch, and a scenic boat journey.
There was no need to do anything more.

My Experience: Why I Loved Iseltwald So Much
If I had to choose my favorite part of the day, it would definitely be Iseltwald.
Before visiting, I had no expectations.
I did not know much about the village or what we would find there.
But the moment we arrived, I felt connected to the place.
The lakeside restaurant, peaceful walking areas, beautiful surroundings, and overall atmosphere made it special.
What I loved most was the feeling of relaxation.
There was nothing extraordinary that we needed to do.
We simply had lunch, walked beside the lake, took photographs, and enjoyed being there.
For me, that is one of the beautiful things about traveling.
Not every memorable experience needs to involve an adventure or a famous attraction.
Sometimes, the atmosphere of a place is enough to create a lasting memory.
And Iseltwald certainly did that for me.
